i miss the old days where the citric acid cycle was known as the kreb's cycle, and where it only consisted of 4 compounds. for the benefit of those who don't know, there's actually 10! & we've gotta know the enzymes n inhibitor's for each step. to think after jc life i could bid farewell to the idiotic jargon of useless information in respiration! i swear it was the bane of my existence then. & now it's back to haunt me x_X biochem is seriously unfun. i don't get why we should learn all this anti-sense stuff when it's irrelevant to our job. -- words from the biochem rep herself =X
besides that, i think anatomy is fun! we're slightly better off than med students who're going bonkers with the muscles of the arm. :P but we'd soon go mad stuffing our brain with head&neck later this year! :( going to the anatomy hall to see the cadavers was initially a slightly vomit inducing experience, but after a while we kinda got used to the formalin smell, poking various organs and the zhup (gravy?!) splashing out of the cadaver when the prof cuts it up to give us a more wholesome view. anatomy is really enlightening. it's really incredible how everything in our body is interconnected, and the architecture of the body just blows me away each time we discover new things about it. actually, beneath the skin, the entire structure of our body is more or less the same tinge! a mix between beige brown and red. so yes, beauty is really skin deep. but that's if u can't realise the beauty beneath the skin as well.
but just for the record, i'm never gonna work in a mortuary. :S
this is weird. i started off blogging for the sake of ranting about biochem and now i'm in a relatively happier mood! oh yes, i think now i'm less vulnerable to horror shows since i've been exposed to the REAL horror in life. i can't believe the nurse in supernatural (s4e1, yes its out!) scream after seeing the patient amber in with his liver missing. i mean hasn't she seen worse things when she was a student! -.- haha anyways, yes learning all these med topics does make one more cynical/discerning (aka smarter) bout tv shows.
i'm so glad gossip girl, house and supernatural are back!!! too bad it's around our exam period tho -.- oh well, now tt i've done with mugging for carbohydrate metabolism, it's time for bioenergetics! whoopee. *affirms initial statement*
